Project “Save Sylhet” Jarulia & Chetulia, Derai, Shunamganj, 2022

The joint initiative between the HITH Foundation, Abhyatri Srimangal, and Volunteer for Bangladesh, which took place in 2022, has provided much-needed relief to the flood-affected areas of Sunamganj’s Dirai Upazila. The villages of Jarulia and Chitlia were severely affected by floods, leaving many families without access to basic necessities like food, clean water, and shelter.

The joint initiative’s volunteers traveled by trawler boat for four hours to reach the remote villages. Upon arrival, they found that most houses had been submerged in water, and many families had lost their means of earning a livelihood. The distribution of relief materials, including food items and emergency supplies like blankets and mosquito nets, brought hope and comfort to the villagers, many of whom had not received any assistance from outsiders before.

The success of the joint initiative was due to the support and guidance of the upazila administration, UNO, ACland of Dirai Upazila, Chairman, and local members, who identified the remote villages and helped to deliver the aid. The joint initiative expressed its gratitude to all those who supported their work financially, mentally, and physically. The volunteers urged others to contribute to their efforts to continue providing relief to those affected by natural disasters.

The joint initiative’s efforts in providing relief to the flood-affected areas of Sunamganj emphasize the importance of community support and cooperation in times of crisis. Their dedication to helping those in need serves as a reminder of the power of collective action to make a positive impact on society. It is heartening to see such initiatives coming forward to help vulnerable communities, and it is our responsibility to support and strengthen such initiatives.

In conclusion, the joint initiative between the HITH Foundation, Abhyatri Srimangal, and Volunteer for Bangladesh has made a significant impact on the lives of hundreds of families affected by floods in Sunamganj’s Dirai Upazila. Their efforts have shown us that in times of crisis, collective action and community support can make a huge difference in providing much-needed relief to those in need. We all have a role to play in creating a better world, and initiatives like this one provide us with a platform to do so. We salute their efforts and hope that they will continue to inspire us to be a force for good in our communities.
